The networking activities of the LIFE SUPERHERO project strengthen cooperation among European initiatives in the construction sector. A tangible result is the recent connection established with the INDICATE LIFE project which, thanks to the collaboration with the research group of the University of Bergamo (Department of Engineering and Applied Sciences), will include LIFE SUPERHERO’s demonstrator buildings among the case studies for LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) analyses.

INDICATE LIFE – funded by the European Union under the LIFE2023-CET program (Grant Agreement No. 101167585) and running from October 2024 to December 2026 – aims to improve LCA data and methodologies to support European policies on whole life carbon (WLC) in the building sector.

In addition to the University of Bergamo, the Italian consortium of the project includes:

  • Green Building Council Italia
  • Politecnico di Torino – Department of Architecture and Design
  • Politecnico di Milano – Department of Architecture, Construction Engineering and Built Environment
  • ENEA – Department for Sustainability, Circular Economy Division
  • Harpaceas – Research and Innovation Division

Other partners are: Smith Innovation, BPIE, KU Leuven, Rise, and World Green Building Council.

Thanks to the LIFE SUPERHERO network, this synergy opens a new channel for dialogue, data sharing, and alignment with European sustainability frameworks, demonstrating how LIFE projects can accelerate impact through strategic connections. In particular, the research group at the University of Bergamo has initiated the involvement of LIFE SUPERHERO demonstrator buildings, which are potential candidates as LCA case studies within the INDICATE LIFE project. Technical materials required for the preliminary evaluation of the case studies are already being collected.
