The pilot experience carried out in Reggio Emilia within the framework of the LIFE SuperHero project has been officially published on Climate-ADAPT, the European platform for climate change adaptation managed by the European Environment Agency (EEA).

The case study, entitled “Reduction of heat stress through innovative ventilated and air permeable roof retrofit enabling passive cooling in buildings, Emilia-Romagna (Italy)”, showcases the results achieved through the implementation of innovative ventilated and air-permeable roofing solutions based on HEROTILE technology. The pilot was conducted on social housing buildings in Reggio Emilia and demonstrates the potential of passive cooling strategies to reduce summer overheating, improve indoor comfort, and support urban climate resilience.

Developed under the LIFE SuperHero project, the demonstration activity provides valuable evidence of how cost-effective and replicable building retrofit solutions can contribute to addressing the growing impacts of climate change, including heat stress and urban heat island effects, while also reducing energy consumption associated with cooling.

The publication on Climate-ADAPT represents an important milestone in the dissemination of the project’s results at the European level. The case study is now available through the dedicated Climate-ADAPT page and can also be accessed via the Climate-ADAPT Case Study Explorer, which gathers and promotes inspiring examples of climate adaptation measures from across Europe.
